Meet The Curators

Emily Goddard

Emily was born and raised in Lawrence, KS. Her family instilled in her a great love of books and fiction early on through systematically locking the television and always having a new book or story within reach. At age 11 she was gifted a battered copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by her grandmother, and since then fantasy and young adult fiction have been a favorite escape. Indeed, it became a primary focus during her studies at the University of Kansas, where she received a BA in English in 2010.

Emily still lives in Lawrence on a farm with a flock of backyard chickens, two mostly well-behaved dogs, and her two beautiful children, who will one day also be gifted a battered copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Christina Maki Linville

At four years old, Christina taught herself to read. By the time she went to kindergarten, she was devouring chapter books she swiped from her nine-year-old sister’s bookshelf like it was her job, and her love and appreciation for literature only grew from there. It was in a ninth grade English class that Christina was first introduced to the Harry Potter series through a classmate’s book report.

It didn’t take long for her to fall head-over-heels with the magical world woven into the books and films, so when the opportunity to start a subscription company presented itself, she invited her best friend and fellow bookworm/Potterhead, Emily, to help her build Accio! Subscriptions.

In her other life, Christina is a photographer, artist, and hobby osteologist. She is also active in the local social justice activism community, and along with all of that she’s a mom to two smart, hilarious, and precocious little boys whose first bedtime story was Christina’s well-worn 15-year-old paperback copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
